MK Party slams AfriForum, Solidarity for approaching US government

The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has lambasted AfriForum and Solidarity movements for approaching the United States (US) government  about domestic South African matters.

The party was participating in an urgent debate which was sponsored by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) on the US position in cutting aid funding to South Africa.

MK Party MP,  Wesley Douglas says the AfriForum and Solidarity groups’ mindset is still in the apartheid era when people in this country were oppressed.

Douglas says, “They have the land. They have the power. They have the security but they are claiming  to be victims. No that is nonsense.  You guys are the perpetrators. You are the oppressors here and you are gonna give us justice. You gonna give us our land back and you gonna make sure that we see what you did with that land.”

He says, “That land is going to come back to us whether you like it or not because its Khoisan land. Its African indigenous land. The land must come back as the United Nations Rights Declaration for Indigenous People and I think that we are in this situation that we are because people are not speaking the truth.”

PEPFAR

The Democratic Alliance (DA) MP,  Dr. Karl Le Roux has described the halting of President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) funding to South Africa by the US government as a shock.

Le Roux says, “Sadly, today I am for all intents and purposes delivering a eulogy for PEPFAR .The dismantling of the USA and suddenly suspension of PEPFAR funding by the current us administration  has been a huge shock and extremely damaging to our health care system.”

“The DA would like to express its deep sympathy with patients who have lost access to PEPFAR funding care and also with the nearly 50 000 health care workers who have lost their jobs.”

He adds,  “We are also extremely concerned about the impact that other countries in Africa, many who relied on PEPFAR for nearly 95%  of their HIV budgets and for whom the recent decisions by the United States administration would cause even more consequences.”
