EFF demands an end to ‘water shedding’ in Gauteng

The EFF in Gauteng is expected to lead a march to Joburg Water’s offices on Monday in response to the ongoing water crisis in the province.

The party is demanding an end to “water shedding”.  This follows an increase in water supply disruptions, which the water utility has attributed to ageing infrastructure and high demand.

Gauteng EFF spokesperson, Dumisani Baleni says, “Part of the demands of the EFF is that there should be an end to water shedding. There should be an investment in the maintenance and expansion of the city’s infrastructure. There should be an investigation in terms of the skill set of the people that are serving in Joburg Water Board because we know right now that the ANC has used the water board as the institution to further entrench their patronage and party factions.”
